The mission of Bright Star Community Outreach is to empower residents to share the responsibility of strengthening the Bronzeville community through resource development and collaborative partnerships. Established in 2007, Bright Star Community Outreach was initially a faith-based, clergy-led effort to address violence among youth and to improve the schools through monthly prayer vigils. Today, Bright Star Community Outreach utilizes evidenced based practices to address community needs in the areas of violence prevention; community engagement; economic development; education; and healthy children, youth, and families. This funding enables Bright Star Community Outreach to: 1) train its financial officers and other staff members on new financial management software and 2) engage Fiscal Management Associates (FMA) to provide related professional development for the staff and board.
