Founded in 1898, DePaul University pursues the preservation, enrichment, and transmission of knowledge and culture across a broad scope of academic disciplines; it emphasizes academic excellence, community service, access to education, and respect for the individual. DePaul University's Institute for Housing Studies (IHS) is a multidisciplinary academic research center that provides research, data, and technical support to economic development practitioners, government agencies, and community-based organizations. IHS has expanded its services and network of community partners to support Chicago's neighborhoods as they recover from changes in the housing market due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This infrastructure award supports IHS as it identifies emerging community needs and provides technical assistance to community-based organizations. It also supports the maintenance of IHS’s data clearinghouse and ongoing research. In addition, this award funds the increased public accessibility of IHS’s research results in an online multimedia format.

Founded in 1898, DePaul University was established to fulfill the mission of St. Vincent de Paul in educating the poor and the children of immigrants. It has retained this mission over more than 120 years, educating a highly diverse population of 22,500 students, including many who are immigrants and/or the first in their families to attend college. The University’s Institute for Housing Studies is a multidisciplinary academic research center that maintains an extensive data clearinghouse of information for original research and analysis on Chicago’s housing markets. This award supports operations of the Institute, which produces a range of annual applied research products, including price index updates, reports on rental housing, and data briefs on emerging housing policy topics.
