The program is offered in twenty-five cities, in partnership with over 450 nonprofit organizations, throughout the United States. Public Allies Chicago (PAC) launched in 1993 under the leadership of founding Executive Director, Michelle Obama. Today it remains one of the largest Public Allies programs in the nation. This renewal award supports its signature apprenticeship program, which works to diversify the talent pool and increase the number of low-income, people of color, and first-generation college students in nonprofit staff and leadership roles.
