Founded in 1998 by an international group of musicians, Tamizdat facilitates international cultural exchange. It assists the international performing arts community in addressing the challenges artists face in obtaining visas to visit and perform in the United States. Tamizdat operates a visa assistance hotline for artists, educates the artistic community on visa and other mobility issues, and recommends changes to U.S. immigration policy and practice to facilitate international exchanges. This award supports Tamizdat in offering its visa assistance services to International Connections Fund awardees of the MacArthur Foundation. Any remaining funds may be used for general operations.
