As summer in Chicago approaches, neighborhood groups are developing robust programming to counter potential upticks in gun violence, engage residents and young people, and strengthen communities. This year, the Partnership for Safe and Peaceful Communities awarded $2.5 million in grants to 253 grassroots organizations to build peace in Chicago neighborhoods hardest hit by gun violence, thanks in part to a collaboration between Chicago Mayor's Office and PSPC.

Since 2016, PSPC has facilitated grants of up to $10,000 to small, neighborhood organizations through the Chicago Fund for Safe and Peaceful Communities as part of a four-pronged strategy to reduce violence and reimagine public safety. Grantee activities through the summer and fall range from community gardening, mentoring, arts and culture, music festivals, youth sports programs, block clubs, and wellness activities.
